Does the HVX200 have a real 16X9 mode

I was wondering if the HVX200 has a real 16x9 mode or if it
is stretching the image like the DVX100a does?

But what size are the chips? Are they the size of the 16x9 area in the center of a 4x3 1/3" chip, like the 16x9 sampling area of the XL2? Or is it a proper 16x9 1/3" chip, sized a bit bigger?

And the wide end of the lens is 4.5mm, like the DVX, right? Which offers, potentially, an even wider field of view than the DVX, if the chip is larger. That'd be great, and it would explain the extra mm at the long end of the lens as bringing the HVX's field of view to the DVX's field of view at the long end.

Though, actually, I'd prefer any gains to be at the long end of the lens. I just don't want the chip to be as small as with the XL2.

If you read the forum and the article, it says that the size and the model of the chips is not yet known.
To admins - I think it's time to put together an HVX200 FAQ.

I recall reading that the chips were completely redeveloped, but chances are it's a 16:9 area in the center of a 4x3 1/3 chip. Not only the XL2, but the HDV camcorders are doing the same thing right?
I remember an engineer at the DVEXPO east conference last year responding to a similar question regarding the XL2 sensor's true 16:9 area, and he basically said that if they'd implemented *real native*16:9 chips in the XL2, they'd have catapulted the price by at least a few grand.

Without sawing off the lens and checking, I can't answer definitively, but it is my understanding that the chips in the FX1 and Z1 are indeed 16:9-shaped, as will be the CCDs in the HVX. Presumably the chips in the HD100 are also 16:9-shaped.

The HD1/HD10 had a 4:3 CCD with a 1280x720 center patch extraction, as far as we know.
