Does the HMC-80 work with glidecam?

I read somewhere that the bigger HMC-80 is too big to work with a glidecam, unlike the 150 and 40. Is this true? Anyone try it?

Thanks :)

Hi

I don't shoot on a glidecam but I use a flycam 5500 which is about the same size and running 80's on the rig works perfectly. I trust that you are not going to attempt to just handhold the sled with an 8lb camera on top or anything crazy like like that ???...even handholding the 150 or 40 would be way too heavy so you will need to use a vest and adjust the spring arm to suit the all up weight of the sled and camera which should be in the region of 15 - 20lbs

I was just hoping to have the option to use an HMC-80 on a glidecam... in case I want to try recording some kind of action/chase type video. I figure I'd only record a few seconds at a time, then rest, then record again. Nothing too stressful or sustained

If you are seriously thinking about handholding a glide cam with an all up weight of nearly 20lbs then you must have a build coming close to the hulk!! Just remember that an HMC80 is fairly high due to the shoulder mount design so that moves the centre of gravity upwards so getting a balance means extra weight than normal on the bottom stage. I would really look at getting something smaller to run on the glidecam or get a vest and springarm for it..they are rarely successful as handhelds for more than a few seconds!!

Remember that apart from having no XLR's as standard the HMC40 has the identical electronics to the HMC80 so it will be a way better fit on the glidecam and also a nice match with footage!! I certainly wouldn't want to go any heavier than a 40 with a handheld stabilizer!!
