Does the FS100 need an adapter to use a Sony 85mm Carl Zeiss Planar T* Prime Lens?

That lens is an A Mount. The FS100, along with FS700, FS7, A7s, A6000, etc, have an E Mount. Just search for any A Mount to E Mount adapter. There are third party ones I'm sure, but I'd probably go with Sony's own. For the FS100, you can looked for a discontinued Sony LA-EA1 or LA-EA2 or you can go with the newer LA-EA3 or LA-EA4 which work on full frame cameras as well (aka A7s). The 2 & 4 can sort of do autofocus, while the 1 & 3 just help you mount the lens and control aperture.

You can mount pretty much any lens on an E Mount with the correct adapter. Canon, Nikon, Minolta, Contax, etc. The big things to watch out for are if have electronic control (aperture, image stabilization, etc) which are important if you are using a lens doesn't have a manual aperture ring.

Great info, thank you very much! There's no downsides to using these? Would I be better off getting a different 85mm lens?

Also, are the EA1/2 better or worse than the 3 & 4?

I have a metabones canon ef to emount mark 2. Would I be better off getting a canon 85mm? Any good examples of one similar to this sony one?
