Does Sound Devices make sense in this setup?

I have two options. Either recording into my camera directly using camera phantom power or going into a Sound Devices pream and from there into the camera at zero level line input. Is there any difference in audio quality or is it basically the same? Thank you.

Almost anything is likely it will be better than your camera's pre amps and limiters.

But the real true benefit to having a piece of dedicated sounder recording hardware, is having a dedicated person operating on it and focused on the sound! (as ya know, it only merely makes up HALF of your film!) And it also means you'll not be limited to the probably only two tracks your camera can handle. (although not sure, which one do you have? If you got the FS7 then it can handle up to four. But four wireless at once is madness for someone to do solo *and* operate the camera for a feature!)
