Does scene file 1 load by default????

Hi Guys

Maybe just a silly question but if you buy your camera from new and turn it on does it automatically load the Scene 1 file by default?? or does it simply not load any files. My question then would be if you change the parameters of both scene files and then physically go thru the menu and load Scene1, when you start the camera again it will always load scene1 until you tell it not to????? Let's say I'm doing an outdoor shoot so I load Scene 1 and use the camera for the day and then, in the evening I need a change cos it's low light so I load Scene2 and thruout the evening Scene 2 is applied each time I turn the camera on?????

Now, what happens if I want to use neither scene file?????

Based on that is there anyway you can tell the camera "don't use any scene files????" or would you have to initalise Scene 1 back to factory defaults and then load scene 1 again???? It would be great to have 2 files stored BUT be able to use neither if you wanted to!!!!

Thanks for any help

Chris

Hi Guys

I'm absolutely staggered that no one here can answer this question. I really did expect guys like Barry or Bob to have an answer and they are pretty much experts on HMC40!!

Does anyone know the answer to my post??

Much appreciated

The answer to this question is "yes". So I think the practical implication of that would be that yes, the camera always uses one or other scene file (i.e. the most recent one).

Hi Graham

Absolutely perfect!! Many thanks indeed!! That's all I needed to know. So now if I decide that if I want to go back to default I will need to use the Init option to bring the settings back to factory default!! Hmmm pity you can't have Scene 1 or Scene 2 and also a "none" option but I can live with that..changing back is pretty painless.

Your help is much appreciated

Hi, Chris-

One thing I found helpful were a bunch of videos that Panasonic created (or had created). The one on scene files is at:

http://www.youtube.com/user/PBTSProVideo#p/u/29/5lUrf-cSyrY

You can search the user PBSTProVideo and look for the ones that have AG-HMC40 in the titles. They got me up and running quickly before I read Barry's book. Sorry if you knew about them already.

And it is a limit to have only two scene files without loading up a third one by having to write over one of the two. For me, though, I find I end up using mostly just one and tweaking it sometimes.

Thanks Steve

I already had known about them from Jan's sticky on this form but they didn't answer my specific question about "default" settings...yeah it would be great to have say a "cinematic style" file, one for low light and then the normal flat one for general shooting!!!
