Does Panasonic have a Loyalty Program?

As many of you know, Canon has that wonderful Loyalty program in which you can trade up an old broken Canon camera for a significant discount off current refurbished models.

I'm wondering, does Panasonic have a similar program? I haven't heard anything about it, so I assume there is not any such thing, however I'm debating a second camera and wouldn't mind having the sensor of the GH2 to compliment my T2i with Magic Lantern.

The problem is, right now the price of the T2i with Canon's loyalty program is too low to pass up (between $400-500 last I checked). With the GH2 being so difficult to find in stock as it is, I doubt Panny is willing to part with one for any kind of significant discount.

But hey- doesn't hurt to ask? Anyone?

Panasonic has their Facebook Fans Deal page otherwise their EEP program, or whatever it's called. I have not heard of any loyalty program though.

If price is a primary decider, Panny is offerring new GH1 bodies for $349 from the Facebook Deals page with full warranty. When that deal began I looked seriously at what I would be doing with cameras and opted to go the new GH1 route and sold off the GH2s that arrived a few days later.

Wow- $349 for a GH1 is a worthy consideration indeed!

I'm not so up-to-speed regarding what the GH1 can and can't do versus the GH2, but I understand that some folks are claiming it better in some ways (more hackable?). Since you returned your GH2s, I assume that you feel this way as well?
Would the GH1 would be a worthwhile tool in comparison? I'm currently loving the hacked T2i...

When and if the firmware gets hacked....... until then these are not hackable. But for 90+% of my use isn't for the uber high quality of the hacked version. There are people on this board who can make the GH13 and the GH2 sing.... sorry to admit, I ain't one of them....yet.

When I saw $349 per and they were new with warranty, I did some math. Right now I have one here next to the computer and 4 untouched in their boxes sitting and waiting to be played with. The two GH2s I sold on Ebay and those more than paid for all 5 of these. If some day these get hacked, I am sitting super sweet. If they don't, I still have great cameras, especially compared to the SD ones I got rid of last fall.

I am saying this because some times we get swept away with the newest and greatest, when for our needs, it is just plain overkill. You may be the same, doing fine with the T2i. Only you can answer that, good luck with your decision !!!!

Hmm... but what are the limitations of the GH1 versus the GH2 as far as movie filming? I was interested in the GH2 after hearing such wonderful things about it compared to the known issues with Canon, but I am pretty unfamiliar with the GH1 and GH13.
For that matter, what IS the GH13?? Is that a variation of the GH1? And what would I be missing going with one of these versus the GH2 everyone raves about?

I understand that the display isn't as good (not articulating, right?) and maybe fewer bells and whistles- but as far as footage, frame rate, lenses, etc, they are identical?

I certainly don't need newest and greatest, but I'm interested in something for use as a B cam.

I was all set to go GH2 all the way. Everything I read about it said the advancements were terrific. If it is quality that drives you, the GH2 is the way to go, no doubt.

When I saw the GH1 at $349 I seriously had to have a "comin' to Jesus" about what was most important to me. 99+% of my delivery and audience is internet based. My projects are more "meatball" than epics. I needed "real good" as my audience isn't going to recognize or appreciate "fantastic". My audience is going to be far more impressed with cuts from a 4 cam shoot, over native 24P. Also, my competition is maybe at the GH1 level, if they are even that far up the image quality ladder.

So for me, at this time, the GH2 at it's price was just plain overkill. That is why I went GH1, and of course, YMMV.

Forgot to answer your question. The GH13 is the hacked version, named after Tester 13, Vitialy, the hack's author.
