Does my DVX need to be serviced?

I had asked a question about my camera powering off, and other users attributed it to a cold climate. It was about seventy degrees on our outdoor shoot, and half of the time I spent switching the camera off, remounting the battery, and turning it back on.

The camera seems to turn off when the battery is only slightly nudged, and also, when it is pitted against the wind.

Help?

Loose connection in there somewhere.... service time (warranty?)

4 year warranty from Mack until 8-15-09.

Can somebody do me a favor? Power up your DVX with the 5600mah battery, and lightly nudge the battery left, right, or up. Let me know what happens. I'm hoping that it's just a faulty battery catch, so a service person will not have to crack the camera open.

I have no clue how to ship this. UPS and USPS bang the absolute **** out of everything that gets delivered to me , it doesn't make me happy to think about my DVX being transported by the same folks.

sbryan,

Do you have a "greenish" color on the pins that make contact to your battery?

It may be a slight case of corrosion. We've seen that before.

My contacts for my dual-5600mah batteries must have worn out, because I don't experience the same thing with the full size Panasonic batteries. Never fear, I attached some velcro to the DVX user batteries to act as a wedge, and forcing the contacts into position.

Thanks for your replies,
Sean

Glad yu found a workaround:

Tried it... nothing...still works.

Had the same problem. Likewise a loose connection. To test, plug in your AC adapter and see if you have any power off issues when powered by outlet.

If you do send camera off for servicing, I would recommend you arranging the shipping in both directions so that you can be sure to insure it. When I sent mine in to have heads cleaned, the service center shipped it back _uninsured_. If anything had happened to it, I would be out of luck$.
