does ex1r have the ir problem?which filter

i was looking to get this uv filter for my ex1r, but does it have the ir problem

The EX1 has more issues with IR. Its one of the issues that's supposed to be pretty much cleared up on the EX1R.

EX1R is much MUCH better. AbelCine did a test to show this when the camera was released. It's a problem Sony fixed but never mentioned in their literature. ;-)

So save your money on that filter.

what filter do you recommend. ive heard bw multicoat or helio?? any models or certain ones?

Well if you just want a filter to protect your lens then B+W multi-coat is a good choice. The IR contamination the EX cameras are known for (EX1R not included) is known as "far-red" and is not the typical UV infrared that film cameras were suseptible to.

You want the Tiffen T1 infared filter for the black colthes looking reddish maroon problem.

OK, here's the AbelCine post about EX1/EX3 vs. EX1R infrared. The EX1R does not have the same issue as the first generation cameras.
