Does DVCPRO-HD profit from X800/6800's Hardware-Acceleration?

Both videocard manufacturers ATI and NVidea offer HD hardware acceleration since the introduction of their X800 respectively 6800 series. Does DVCPRO-HD already profit from this, or does this standard need special drivers or adapted editing software? Support would be great, so you could (dis-)play HD smoothly on 'standard' hardware.

That'd be something that would be decided by whoever writes the codec for the editing application. Any codec could be written in such a way that it takes advantage of certain hardware processes, but it would have to be specifically written to do so. There's nothing about DVCPRO-HD (or DV or MPEG-2 or any codec) that would "automatically" take advantage of such hardware; whoever writes the editing application and the codecs would have to do the extra work to incorporate the hardware acceleration features.

The graphic cards may or may not be usable for video codec applications. However, if you want a hardware-optimized editing system for DVCPRO-HD, you could look to the Matrox Axio system; they have a hardware card that gives you multiple streams of DVCPRO-HD in realtime including realtime transitions, realtime dissolves, etc. There are two downsides though: one, it only works with Premiere Pro, and two, it costs something like $11,500.
