Does Audio Pass through monitor out?

Trying to help someone trouble shoot F23 in the field.

They are not getting audio to pass through the F23 IF box to the 7Q.

checked that it is set to channel 1/2, checked mic on another camera. 7Q is set to SDI input.

I have used this exact setup with my F35 and the audio is fine. However right now the 7Q is connected to the monitor out port. Does audio pass through this on the SDI? I assumed it would.

I need to get both cameras side by side to test and see what is different.

Also is there any way in the F35 viewfinder to monitor the audio with meters or levels? I couldn't find any audio metering options in the menus.
 
Last year I was doing a lot of research on the F35 dock. Part of that involved opening up the IF box. It was pretty clear that the audio only feeds out, and not back into the camera itself. Therefore, the audio doesn't pass to the video monitor out port. It also therefore is not available to the camera itself or by proxy, the viewfinder.

I'm a bit confused by your grammar as to which setups you tested as fine and which are the problem.

Are they having a problem feeding from the IF box, or feeding from the monitor out port? Or both?
 
Thanks Viddo you answered my question. Sorry if I was confusing, basically someone is borrowing my F23 body with all my F35 setup accessories- 7Q, IF box, AB plate. With this same setup my F35 works fine, but like you said, I was testing using the IF box ports.

The person using the F23 wanted to burn in the MLUT so we switched it to monitor out, now I understand that the audio only goes to the IF box ports, thank you.

Copy. Makes sense now. Sorry it doesn't work the way they want to run it!
 
direct audio input into the 7q seems to be the answer if they want to keep the MLUT. What about recorders like the SRW1, is the IF box able to pass audio to the other dock?

To my best engineering understanding - no. The SRW1 has a pair of XLR inputs on it, so you wouldn't need an IF box to record two channels of audio. When docked to the SRPC1 two more audio inputs are available, but that would mean not docking to the camera.
