Does anyone use the Sony NEX FS100

I've been shooting Weddings on a 7D and 5DMKII for a couple of years now.
I've shot a couple on an AF100 but today will actually be the first day using the
FS100 on a Wedding.

*I wrote that before I went I'm back now was only needed for ceremony today.

Things went well no different than a DSLR except better image quality and not a pain to work with.
Shot a white balance target and commenced on shooting in my tight corner. They wouldn't
let us move from each corner...it was very cramped to say the least. Here's a quick shot:

Anyway next week I have shoots Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Three of them are Weddings.
One is apparently for a player on the Bengals I just found out. Anyway I'll explain more after the crazy weekend
but so far I think the workflow is great. No worrying about a 12 minute mark. I can record for hours and my battery
won't die on me in 2 hours. Most of the shoots next week are 8+ hours as well so it will get a good workout.

Quite a fan so far will report back later if you would like just say yay or nay.

Would love to see some footage from that day?
What lenses did you use?

That day was horrible to be honest since they shoved us in a corner.
It wasn't ideal at all. I will have some hopefully as early as Friday. Thursday
if you are interested in a graduation.

Oh and that day I only used the Nikon 17-55mm f/2.8 with a Novaflex adapter.
Strong performer of a lens however I am in love with my 80-200mm f/2.8. I'll
have footage from those two and some Zeiss ZF's come this weekend if you are
interested.

Nostalgic,

Here is the footage from the other day. I'll have more in the next coming days
like I mentioned. First clip is the raw untouched clip. Next is a very small
correction/grade with 2:35 bars, which is how we film framing wise.

If you pay attention to the windows in the raw clip you notice they are yellow
and ugly. I change this in the graded clip. Also add a bit of warmth to the shadows
and overall warmth. Might have added a bit to much sharpening but it was a 5 minute
job since not a final piece.

Will have better things to show off soon. Again this one was 'meh' in my opinion since
the church really didn't help us in the least...also allowed downloading of the original
video on Vimeo to allow anyone that wants to pixel peep the ability. Naturally it's still
compressed.

Anyway let me know your thoughts.

Just one thing (besides the green ghost, but I know you had no choice) when you do the bars, you have too much headroom.
Move the whole shebang up a bit before you crop it to 2:35.
Also set you knee to 105/0 and use the 709 gamma and pro color matrix.

Will do on the headroom was a quick edit was really not to concerned with much of what I was showing.
Wanted to show the natural image and what it turns out to be generally.

I was using 709 and Cinematone 1. Change to Pro I will be doing some preproduction tests today for a short
film. My knee was 105/+5 changed to 105/0 just now. I thought I heard +5 was optimal that's why I was
on +5.

Any suggestions on the ghosting? Or it is what it is. Was worse in some shots. In fact his back generally had
a window on it...

There is not much you can do against ghosts.
Stopping down sometimes helps a bit, the vari ND filter makes it worse.

Your best bet is move the camera around, till it goes away (if you have that option). It doesn´t take much, in most situations.

Frank

Thank you for posting your footage.
The redness of the fs100 is not my kind of cup of tea but I actually liked the footage for the most part of it.
was that a 24p?
Did you see the green ghost at the time of shooting through the fs100 monitor?

It was 24p and yes the ghosting was there. It's presence is quite noticeable. It appears to be just one of those things, like the red channel.

Have you tried my G-LOG A PP? It is made with skin tones in mind (I´m a skin tone nut) and takes care of the red channel problem as good as possible.

Frank

Frank I did a while back before the second version, when 2.0 came out it was naturally
a bit color shifted so it produced better skin tones I would assume. I'm using a modified
version of my old shoot and deliver PP. I'v'e made the changes you've recommended.

I ended up shooting multiple scenes for the short film today and did some grading
and it's coming out quite good I believe. I'm not 100% locked into the grade I've come
up with yet but I feel it will push the narrative perfectly.

Here's a raw grab and then a graded version.

For an FYI white balance was not reset after initial start of shooting at dusk. Again this
shoot was really for preproduction testing. Ended up deciding to run with it and I'm doing
all post work anyway so it's no biggie...will help with skin tones anyway haha.

FS100 is great for weddings. I am in the market to buy another ATM, as the FS100 just eats up my vg10s and it requires alot work to fix in post. Heres a sample of mine, most of the footage you see was FS100.
