Does anyone make a wireless lav system that also records (avail in USA)?

Since wireless systems have the risk of dropouts etc... and dropping an audio recorder into a grooms pocket cannot be monitored, I've been wanting a system that can do both - send a wireless signal plus record the audio so I can also record it on my camera yet have a recording in the unit should the wireless signal have problems.
Any such thing available in the USA yet?

And until their patents run out, it's unlikely you'll see any others in the US anyway.
I suspected this was the case. Otherwise couldn't imagine why these things haven't been out there for years already. Any wedding guy would want the ability to record on board plus transmit simultaneously. Guess I'll keep using both a wx lav and recorder for a while until competition can enter the game

AFAIK Tascam DR-10CS will record to flash card and pass through output to e.g. wireless transmitter. Not sold in USA, but available on amazon.co.uk and other sources. (In the past I have ordered UK only release CD from amazon.co.uk and they did ship to me in USA)

This reminds me of the ban on "non professional" (i.e. not $$$$$) DAT recorders in the US being able to use 44.1K. All that happened is that people started importing them through friends etc. It seems just as silly here. If I'm in the market for a Zaxcom device Tascam is not really a competitor and Visa Versa. Just silly and to the small group who do move up to where they are in the Zaxcom price bracket it probably hurts Zaxcom more than it does Tascam.

- That was my POV as well regarding the Zaxcom v Tascam patent infringement.
I all too well recall the early R-DAT machines and the ridicules CBS anti piracy copy code as well.

One thing to consider, if you have the money for the Zaxcom, you also have money for any of the other leading wireless companies (Lectrosonics, Audio Ltd. etc)
that don't have audio recording but have the reliability that you don't need to have built in recording.

I don't have any hits on my Lectro systems 99.999% of the time. Extremely reliable transmission, and even more importantly more reliable than the zaxcom units in general.

I've always heard good things about Lectrosonics. Always been curious if they were really that much better/reliable and how.

The Tascam recorder should arrive soon. Hopefully it will do well. It's still not what I really want - which is an integrated unit that can record and transmit without having to piggyback two units together..
But it will accomplish what I am trying to do plus it's so small I can use it alone for just a recorder that is smaller than all my other recorders. :)

In the US it's only Zaxcom - they have a patent and warn anyone else who they think may be infringing it.

Even if they are not infringing the patent, it can get very expensive to prove it, if Zaxcom take it further.

The new Audio 1010 system will record - but not for the US version - the Zaxcom patent is USA only as far as I am aware.
