does anyone else feel annoyed when their drives have to "fire up" all the time?

i run several drives on my machine. occasionally one will go dormant after a few minutes of inactivity. as soon as i click somewhere on the final cut timeline or open a new window for something, seems one of the drives needs to fire back up. maybe i'm just impatient, but 5-10 seconds of waiting when you're "in the zone" can be frustrating.

anyone else experience this? whats the work around - solid state? changing the power settings on the drive?

Well you do pay a bit more in electricity bills, but yeah it is annoying when they spin up.

will this apply to only the external drives or even the main hard drive of my cpu? meaning, my cpu won't be able to go into sleep mode if i leave it on for an hour of inactivity, etc.
