Does 7Q+ record 4K2HD from A7s without purchase of RAW option?

No need for the Odyssey RAW Bundle for this. UHD video straight out of the camera and into the HDMI input on the Odyssey7Q+. Record it as UHD Apple ProRes or SuperSample it to an excellent HD Apple ProRes.
 
That is what I thought, just wanted to make 100% before pulling the trigger on my second 7Q purchase......or I guess first 7Q+ purchase.

Have LOVED the 7Q on my FS700 this last year.

Mitch, what is the advantage of recording the UHD feed from A7s into the 7Q+? Similar supersampled pro res ala FS700 RAW -> 4k2HD?

What advantages does the Raw to 4k2HD quality have with FS700 + 7Q . Thanks in advance.

To be clear, there are two ways to record the signal from the A7S into the Odyssey7Q+. UHD recorded as UHD Apple ProRes or UHD SuperSampled to HD and recorded in Apple ProRes.

Recording UHD, this is the only way to capture this resolution from the camera. On the A7R!! and the A7SII the camera can record internally, but that recording is in 8-bit 4:2:0. The recording on the Odyssey7Q+ is 10-bit 4:2:2, a huge leap in color information.

Recording UHD SuperSampled to HD, the process takes advantage of all the additional color information to create a "pseudo-10-bit" HD signal in 4:2:2. If the camera was set to HD output it would simply throw away the extra color information and only output 8-bit. Additionally, there are many ways to downrez from UHD to HD. The little mirrors camera's processor is only so big and can only handle so many tasks, so it does an okay job of downrezzing but just okay. Odyssey does a superior job which can be seen clearly on a resolution chart, as shown on our website.
