Does 24p affect sharpness at all?

So I have finally figured out how to import video properly so that it shows up in 24p in Final Cut! What a difference!

BUT, it seems like whether I shoot in 24p or 24pa, the footage seems a bit less sharp after importing when I import the right way than it did before, when I was accidentally importing 24p footage in a using interlace. I don't know what the hell was going on, exactly, but the results were interlaced and did NOT have the 24p sexy motion look.

Now I've got that sexy 24p motion, but I feel like I've lost some sharpness. It's possible my focus was just off in both shoots -- I don't have a monitor so I have to rely on the LCD screen of the dvx100a -- but I'm wondering what, if any, connection there is between 24p or 24pa and loss of some sharpness in the picture.

(Using FCP, but not the latest version, here's the notes I made on what I did in this most recent capture, 24p footage:

Capture Settings: DV NTSC 48khz Anamorphic
FPS 29.97
DO NOT check remove advanced pulldown.
click "advanced", set scan mode to progressive and aspect ratio to 16:9

Sequence Settings: DV NTSC 48khz 23.98
Don't change any presets.

I will post a sample when I have it properly exported and uploaded...

I always do check the "remove advance puldown" thing, otherwise you will have a 29,97 vid into your timeline. The sharpness issue that you describe, well, I never see it or read about it. Maybe you can hook a SD TV with your Dvx with video component? I use to do that and look amazing
