Documentary Trailer

Re: Documentary Trailer

Footage was great. So was the pacing. Great text.

Editing was great, too, except for one thing -- the guy toward the end seemed like he was a native-born American who converted to Islam from Christianity, which (IMHO) thematically clashed with the rest of the piece, which seemed to be about either migrating to America with a Muslim faith or growing up Muslim in America, and that guy did neither. I'm sure it makes sense in the full documentary, but it was a little bit of a non sequitur in the trailer.

Re: Documentary Trailer

Looks great. I agree with Jubal.

Also, you misspelled "foreign" on one of the intertitles(as "foriegn").

Re: Documentary Trailer

Thanks, all.

I'm wondering about the use of the color grading- all of the shots of people praying, listening, etc., were washed green and softened slightly.

This was put together after just a couple of days of shooting. I have only one interview from a young Muslim at this point, so that's why he's in there making the Christian/Muslim statement. He's a powerful, intriguing figure- but you guys are right, he may not fit into this trailer very well. Thanks for pointing that out.

Over the weekend I attended a Muslim hip-hop poetry slam. Awesome footage there, although the light was mighty low. As things develop, I'll post.

Today I'm off to Seattle (from east Tennessee) to do some work on a doc about a certain facet of the church's participation in the Holocaust. This will be my first extensive use of the anamorphic adapter.
