Documentary just completed on the Sony FS100

I just wrapped and edited a documentary featuring a very renown American painter. It was a pleasure work with him and the footage turned out great, so I thought I'd share. I'm very happy with this camera! It was my first real working test out in the field.

Just watched it, wonderful.

Tell us about how you set the camera up, profiles, lenses, if you encountered any problems you had to overcome, limitations you worked around. I'm also a documentary maker, shooting for a few months with the FS100, but still I feel less 'sure' of it than the 5D and 7D in some ways, especially in the highlights and over exposed areas, so I'd really like your input here as a fellow documentarian.

Excellent images, Cameron! This looks great. Side question: I don't think any common viewer would notice this, but I just did b/c I think I have the same small issue: It sounded like their was some hiss on the interview. I've found on a project or two that, even if my levels are good, I get a hiss from the audio. Is anyone else experiencing any issues with the internal preamps? Thanks!

The documentary was shot with the stock lens. The color profile was off or flat or untouched - I haven't messed with it too much. (I need to learn more about it). The sound issue you hear could be a hiss. if audio was bad, it is because I'm no audio pro. I need to work on that side of things, but since I've been hard on a cinematography track for a few years - leaping back into doing everything has been a struggle.

My biggest issue in shooting is that it's VERY easy for dust to get on the sensor. I shot a whole day where there is a small soft grey blob a few pixels wide on every shot. It could have been a huge deal, but where it was in the frame made it okay. I even had to magnify the shot a few times so it would clear my frame when it became very noticeable.

Awesome work Cameron.. Looks great! Nice choice of subject. Paintings are the foundation that cinematographers based their styles/looks on. Congrats!
