Documentary - GH2 vs A77

I'm shooting a short documentary and video blog following a band's trip to play in the South by Southwest festival.

I had pretty much made my mind up on the GH2 but then I remembered the A77... Rental prices for both cameras are pretty similar.

I know a lot of the great things about the GH2 but how does the Sony's A77 stack up against it as far as noise, latitude and auto focus speed is concerned?

Here is the only side-by-side of the two cameras I could find (recommend turning the sound down :-)): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9lFuq7MOLg

swissvideoacademy.ch does some impressive work here with the a77 and follow focus (in German, with English subtitles): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=16nHgUKkRmY

The a77 does seem to produce pretty decent video images, but it has a few limitations in video mode, outlined here by Dan Chung at DSLR News Shooter: http://www.dslrnewsshooter.com/2011/10/05/sonys-a77-for-video-so-close-yet-so-far/

Note also that it has the standard Sony 29 minute clip length limit - could be an issue for interviews or concert sets.

Full Disclosure: I am a GH2 shooter - I have shot with Sony NEX-VG20, but not the a77.

Good luck,

Bill
