GH2 Documentary Audio Solution for GH2

I recently shot a short news piece, using the GH2 and a Rode Video Mic Pro direct (see below). For run-n-gun this setup is great, except that I can not monitor sound! So I have come up with a solution that I think will work. I would be interested in any comments.

My first solution was to try a Juiced link DT454. This was great and gave me the opportunity to monitor the mic (I know its not proper monitoring but its better than nothing)! The only problem is that the JL is bigger than the camera! It allowed me to have XLRs but was too unwieldy..

Plan B was to try the Juiced link DT214. This is a better size and can be used with the Rode Video mic Pro direct. The only problem here is the mounting solution. What were they thinking of when they put the screw on the back?! I have tried this set up and it works great, I use a splitter cable in, so I have one channel for the Rode and the other for a Sony Radio lav. To overcome the mounting issue, I have contacted a local machine shop who are making a bracket for me. This will mount under the camera, with a Manfrotto/Bogen Quick Release PL200-14 on the bottom. You will be able to change the camera battery without taking the bracket off, just undo the juiced link bolt and slide to the side. The whole thing is going to be CNCd so should look good. If anyone has any comments or other solutions I would love to hear them. BTW You dont need to see the audio meters on the JL because they are in the viewfinder/screen

What about this?

Rencently Deejay has been working on this with his own 3D Printer.

Thanks I saw that, but I think it makes the camera top heavy. It also sticks out of the back a lot, so the wires are more exposed. I was also wondering if you can comfortably use the viewfinder. Last but not least I was also worried about the strength of the hot shoe. I have refined my design slightly and added another hot shoe for mounting my radio mic. I will post pictures when it arrives.

Thanks for the link
