Hi all,
I'm an independant filmmaker working out of Toronto on a documentary on activism.
The WTO is holding its annual meeting in Washington DC from April 15-18. Unfortunately I can't be there as I will be in Oregon covering another protest. This will be a very interesting shoot with tons of color and energy and no shortage of intensity!!! Thousands of activists and protestors are expected to be there. I really need an experienced shooter with a DVX100 who would be willing to go and cover the protests in Washington from April 15-18 or part thereof. It will be in 24p letterboxed. I have a very limited budget......tape stock, food, a few bucks. Obviously credit. If I ever show up in Washington, or you come to central Canada, I will buy you beer!!! Maybe even find you a place to stay. At this point the whole film is out of my own pocket so I can't pay day rate or scale. I should add that the protests may get rough, as WTO and G8 protests in the past have proven. Please call me at 647.895.8045 or email me at evolve@primus.ca
Cheers

Tony

i filmed the FTAA protests in miami. Scary stuff. I chilled with a cool anarchist group. I would never bring a Panasonic AG-DVX100A to a protest though. MAYBE a sony vx2000

Tony touch you might need to ask a friend to help you, some one that is hands on, and rent a camera.

You want to host the event? If not then you can buy yourself a Panasonic PV-GS250 3ccd minidv cam, it will cost you $800-$1000 tops and has optical image stabilization, 1/6 ccd's (not good, but if your outside with nice light it will do) so when your running from the police backwards you can get that footage with less bobbles. Also if you can find one PV-GS400, has 3 1/4.7 inch ccd's $800-$1200

After it is all said and done you have a decent cam that works well with good light.

Don't forget the Panasonic GS120...good used ones go for less than $450...have shot footage with one that have used for production commercials. 3 CCD, decent stabilization, very small, nice when in crowds of nut-case rioters. Very durable...used mine when I was in Kabul last year...never missed a beat, dropped a frame, or got jammed...and I forgot to bring a head cleaner! Got six tapes of raw footage, VERY NICE!
