GH2 Do you use your right or left eye?

Although in the GH2 section as I use that camera this question of course applies to any type of camera with a viewfinder. Like most people I use my right eye. But recently found that in bright daylight conditions I don't get any of that glare that knocks out your view if I use my left eye. Still feels strange though and being short sighted with glasses does not help. My left eye is the weaker of the two.

So which eye do you use??

Like you, I do better with the right eye. We tend to be either right eye dominant or left eye dominant and that determines which eye works best for both using a viewfinder or aiming firearms. Sometimes a person can "train" their non dominant eye to see well enough through a viewfinder but it's probably pretty much best to go with the dominant eye.

You should try to figure out why you get the "glare" when using your right eye. Is there a difference in how close you can get to the viewfinder eyepiece between your two eyes?

One thing to try (it can be a pain in the ...) would be to adjust the diopter on the viewfinder to your right eye with no eyeglasses. Lift the eyeglasses to above the forehead or take them off and slip in a shirt pocket when you need to use the viewfinder.

You should be able to get your right eye up real close and block out more glare that way.

Alas my prescription is so "complicated" that using the EVF without glasses is a no no! I think the change in position of my hand helps to block out the excess light when I change eys. Another issue I have with light getting into the viewfinder if using a SLR or DSLR is altering the exposure! Not an issue with the GH2 thankfully!
