F5: Do you think the top end Sony F5 viewfinder will have a waveform monitor?

Hello all. Thinking about switching from my F3 to an F5 but have a question about the new Sony viewfinders. Do you think they will have an option to display a waveform monitor. Basically I would love to know if the new VF's on offer, would be good enough to shoot slog etc without the use of another exteral monitor. It would be awesome if this was the case and you didn't need an extrernal one like the TVLOGIC system I am using. Also to lose the Samurai off the side and noga arms and cables etc, would be great. I am off to an F5/F55 open day next week so look forward to getting my hands on it. Thanks, Sparky

When I had a conversation myself with Jin, the project manager of the camera at the Culver City release event, his answer was, in broken english was "we're figuring those things out now"

None of the prototypes I played with at the event had anything like that working yet. I suspect the cameras you'll see yourself won't have it yet either. But my hunch is that they understand people want it, and are doing their best with the horsepower the camera has.

When we spoke to the designers at Camerimage they asked if this is something people would want. We gave them a very emphatic yes.

I would have thought with just over for weeks to the launch in the UK for the two new models - pencilled in at Jan 15th over here-this would have be confimed either way.

I imagine they will be working on FW until last minute. I remember when I got my F3 in March of 2011, it had shipping stickers from Japan still on it...it went from Japan, to Sony warehouse in San Jose, to retailer in Illinois, to me in the space of 7-10 days going by the dates on the shipping stickers.

I've been pushing Sony very hard for WFM. And I can also confirm that Sony will be tweaking firmware until the cameras ship.

The weird thing is if you design a camera and know anything about shooting how can you not have this as a critical spec (either WFM or Histo) ?

Sony managed a live histo in the Nex5n using the horsepower available in that camera

The FS100 has the 'status' button that scrolls to really nice big sound meters, Id like the 'status' button to include a full screen histo/wfm, and of course for a corner histo/wfm to be available too

I think it is simply a sign of how fast manufacturers are bringing cameras to market. I asked Steve Lawes, DoP on Dig, about exposure controls during a recent webchat with Sony. A lght-meter and S-Log was his answer. Sony did say exposure aids would be coming soon though.

False Color would also be very nice as it would eliminate the need for me to walk around with a grey card everywhere I go.
