Do you guys think progrssive looks better?

I recently got my DVX100A and have been testing the camera in various lighting and and subjects and am trying to find a situation where the progressive modes look better than standard video. When you guys say that progressive looks so much better are you mainly talking about the "filmic motion"or do you think it looks better even when there is no motion in the scene?

Maybee I am doing something wrong but I am altering the iris and other settings like I have read some of you suggesting and that still does not make me see that progressive looks better.

Also, do any of you guys use many of the settings in F5 and F6 when you are in interlaced?

are you previewing your footage on the computer or a monitor (i.e. TV)

Also, are you just 'shooting around' ?

I love the Prog. I love the gamma, I love the motion.

WELL . . . .

I'm not going to disagree on LOVING the progressive look. It's the reason we bought the cam in the first place, right?

But "liking the look" could be every bit as subjective as, say, liking or hating the letterboxing bars on a TV. We know why they're there and wouldn't have it any other way -- but some people hate them.

There could very well be those who prefer the look of interlaced. There's something about it which rubs my skin the wrong way, but I could see someone not liking the surreal feel of the prog.

I don't agree at all, but someone could feel that way . . .

well... somthing looking better is in the eye of the beholder. i personally think progressive looks better. and from a technical standpoint, its a better picture. and statistically speaking , people prefer the look of film to video..and the progressive picture is one of the traits of the look of film.

man what are you guys talking about? I love the look of interlaced. If it wasn't for interlaced video, The young and the Restless would not be what it is today!! Interlaced video just brings out the actors best, like when shannon, who left Jacob for Zack came running home only to find her long lost brother was actually her lover's man child. When I watch that show, I feel like I am there. I feel like I could reach out and just grab a little bit of Betsy Stevens :P If soap operas were shot with progressive video, or worse yet, film, then it just wouldn't be the same. It would be, well, a night time drama :-/ named ER. :D
