Do not buy dvx from broadway photo

I just purchased a DVX100b from Broadway photo. I wish I would have done my research but I did not. They said they were selling it for $2,499 which they just changed to $2,799. I order the wide angle lense and the camera. When I received the camera which was the DVX100B it was missing the magic bullet software and was also missing the wide angle lense. When I called them they said the magic bullet software did not come with the camera even though it was posted on their website. Sometime after my phone conversation they had quickly removed the magic bullet software from their website. They also admitted to me even after I specifically ask them was the camera a U.S.A. model before I bought it that it was indeed grey market and that is why the magic bullet software was not in the box. In other words panasonic will not honor the 1 year warranty. And on top of that they told me the lenses was in stock, but sent the order out with no lenses and told me it was on back order. Please ,Please stay away from these guys bad, bad news. Don't expect to get a good conversation when you called back to complain.

Can you return it?

Sorry you have to go through this -- grey market sucks ass, and Crooklyn is the worst.

Broadway has been known to be scammers forever... Should have done some research

If it sounds to good to be true....

What a bunch of crooks. Are you going to return it?

In the future buy from EVSONLINE.COM and if they don't have what your looking for buy from BHphotovideo.com. B&H doesn't have as good of customer service as EVS does.

yeah...

yeah...

return it... (((thanks for @ least sharing your exp.))) ----> btw: jared does have auth. resellers listed on this site.

call you cc co. & dispute the charge... if the co. is in ny state, i believe it's against the law for them to sell "grey line" products as well.

had a sim. experience w/ usphotonation (that's how i handled it) ... the co. was so slimy they would not give me their address to return it to. (wanted me to sign some b.s. fax/letter that said i'd pay for restock on a lot of crap i did not even order!!!) but i searched the web & found it & ups'd it back to those mooks.

God will get them.

btw: next time try using http://www.resellerratings.com _ it's been good to me. (no aff'l etc._

bol

The problem with returning is that they'll usually nick you for at least 15%, maybe more.

If they lied to you and misrepresented it, then you should have grounds to dispute it with your credit card company.

I actually ordered my DVX from Beach camera and got pretty darn lucky. That was before I even knew about grey market cameras.

In the future check out www.resellerratings.com before buying from any online places.

A quick search for Broadway Photo brings up some interesting reviews.

Here's a picture of 'Broadway Photo' or at least the address they used at one point:

2922 Avenue L - Broadway Photo, AKA A&M Photo World, AKA Digital Liquidators

I am so glad I found this site before I ordered my camera.

Amen to that. And EVS does their customers right, that's why my company's getting their HVX through them.

call'em back, say that u need an return authorization number, and that u expect a full refund, because what u recieved was not as described.make sure u won't get charged a "restocking fee" and get their UPS or FedEx account #,so u won't pay to ship it back to them.
if they give u any problems tell them you're gonna contact your congress man, or the attorney general in NY,

Cant' agree more : go to Rush at EVS for the best service and the true best deal. I did business with him, met him when he came over to France in 2004, he's the nicest guy.

My only complaint  is that EVS didn't carry the PAL model of the 100B, so I had to buy from HPreston in the UK (by the way, good service too, albeit a bit slow over the holiday period... talk to John Preston if you buy from them, PAL guys).

Sorry to hear about that! Definitely post back with the results! Once you get your money back make sure to hit up Rush at EVS.. I second, third, fourth, etc.. the recommendation since I also purchased my 100a from Rush.

Luis Caffesse - Sweet find with the store fronts! There a lot of shady stuff going on out there!

Before I even knew what 24p was, I was 30 seconds away from ordering a DVX for $1,799 from Broadway Photo. Luckily for me, my check hadn't cleared and that gave me a few days to search the internet which led be to this which led me horror stories of Broadway Photo. I can't believe respectable magazines (DV Magazine, PC Photo) have the nerve to keep advertising for Digital Liquidators and Broadway Photo.........

It would make me think twice about calling them 'respectable.'

I must admit that I did buy a DVx100 from Broadway 2-3 years ago. They did attempt to get me to order a bunch of stuff with it but I just kept on saying "no thanks". Eventually the guy did place the order and I recieved an unopened box. They did say it was US warrentied but no doubt it isn't. (any way with serial number I could find out??) But at any rate this camera has worked flawlessly. Never had to send it in for repair. Although when I did call them back two weeks later about something, a different guy answered and was like "wow. You did get a great price!?!) Which leads me to believe that my order worked out by (God's grace) and most do not.
