Do I need to shoot in 720p?

I suggest you read up on the subject of the different formats and how they are stored since it seems like you are somewhat in the dark about this. There are a lot of good topics on here and you really need to get a good understanding of this and how they work with your NLE before you decide on how you want to shoot.

Thanks David, I am a little in the dark with this HD stuff, I just see all the great footage and can't wait to do some myself. I'll get to studying now.
Thanks again

Cool, it does have a PCMCIA slot, I think I'll just get 2 8gb cards and forget about the cineporter. I think that the p2 cards will work for what I plan on doing and I really don't need to add more weight to the steady cam I built, by adding a cineporter (besides that I can't wait) , it already weighs 15lbs with camera and all. Thanks for everones help, you've all convinced me on the P2.

I'm concerned about the additional weight of the CinePorter as well, but what I plan to do is get one of the one, three, or six foot P2 to CinePorter cables and mount the CinePorter onto a belt or harness.

No, but I'm starting a documentary shoot in November, and I want to go with the CinePorter, but it may not be out by then. I'll go with three P2 cards if I have to.
