Do I need the rights to credit my camera model?

Hey guys, don't really know where to put this. Since I'm shooting with the AF-100, this seemed like the right place.

I've shot a movie for a festival, I need all the rights to everything in it. I want to put that I shot it on the AF-100 in the credits but I don't know if I need the lisencing rights from Panasonic to say that.

It seems like I should be able to say this without getting permission, but don't want to get disqualified for something so minor.

Anyone know off the top of their head if this is legit?

Thank you.

I want to make sure, man. It would suck to have cleared everything else and then be stopped because I had "Panasonic" and "Sony" in the credits.

You do not need permission to tell people you used what you used. You might need permission if the camera actually appears in the film. But not to say, "i used a Sony, Panasonic..." to shoot this film.

Let me put it this way: if you want an answer that is 100% accurate, ask the festival. They may laugh at the question, but you'll get your answer. From a practical standpoint, take Sundance. They get something like 12,000 entries a year. Do you think 12,000 people are writing, calling, emailing... camera manufacturers to ask permission? (Assuming they all put the camera they used in the credits). That's kind of silly, no? Of course, if you're super cautious, you could just leave out any mention. Nobody really cares what you used. They only care how you used it.

What the festival wants is proof you have signed releases for the actors, locations, music, trademarks/logos/products... which appear in your film.

They don't need releases from Avid, Adobe, Panasonic, Sony, Audio-Technica, Vinten, Arri, whoever made the gaffer's tape you used and want to list in the credits.....

Yeah. This is what I'm thinking.

I mean, if I was going to use the actual company logos, that would be one thing. But to just say what camera I used, I don't think that will be an issue. Honestly though, I don't think I will, just out of safety.

Thanks, man.

"All rights in and to the Entries, including but not limited to any third party trademarks and logos, names, likenesses, and musical material as may be contained therein (collectively, “Third Party Elements”), must be cleared through December 31, 2013 at a minimum, for non-exclusive worldwide online/internet use"

Based off of that alone, I'm not going to include them.

Seriously? Why asking this here.
1- Ask the festival, they will give you a straight answer.
2- call Panasonic hotline, they will give you a straight answer.
But asking the question on a forum to finally say you will not do it when we all explicitly said it was A-OKAY to do it...
