do I need mic holder adapter?

My used cam that I just bought is missing a microphone holder adapter (not microphone holder itself). From the manual I can't really figure out what it's purpose. Do I need it when attaching an external shotgun?

I use one of these on the Halo Rig with a Rode shotgun... I think its what you are looking for...

Thanks guys for the info - I was looking for that too.

However my questions was about a specific part that is shown in the manual and I think it maybe necessary to attach the supplied mic holder to the hmc150 handle. The Hmc150 manual shows the picture and lists the part as a "microphone holder adapter". I am just trying to verify that this part is necessary to be able to use supplied microphone holder.

I'm looking at the manual now... yes, you need it. It's basically an elbow joint sort of thing that allows the holder to be attached to the camera. HOWEVER... verify that it isn't already attached to the holder. Whenever I take the two off, I removed them as one piece and don't seperate the two. You may in fact already have it and it's just attached to the holder.

. verify that it isn't already attached to the holder.
Mike - you've just solved the mystery of the missing link. You're right - it is attached to the holder. I must say that it looks very different on the diagram than in reality.
Now if you're looking at the manual may I ask another "mystery parts" question? What ferrite core is used for?
Thanks!
