Do I need firewire to import?

While homeworking on which cam to upgrade to I found this site. Just got my "new to me" DVX today and WHOA! This thing is awesome.

I had initially been jazzed about using the firewire on the the DVX to import but after reading a few threads here, it looks like I'll be taking a different route. I've got a smaller Panasonic that does not have firewire. If I could snag another small camera with firewire for cheap should I? Will it make importing/capture less of a chore?
 
Yes get another miniDV camera to use as a slave unit or as I'd like to say "capture camera"
It'll be better for the DVX in the long run over time.
