Ok I'm one of the lucky people who have their GH2 and a spare battery, now I need to locate the DC coupler so I can get an A/C solution going. I placed an order for one at Adorama a couple weeks ago and it was not in stock so i cancelled. I did a google search today that showed H and B Digital and Adorama having them for sale. I'm going to call Adorama tomorrow, H and B has a pre order option. Does anyone know a site that actually has these in stock?

I am in the same boat. Placed an order for the DMW-DCC8 over a month ago.
Looked all over. No one has it in stock. Even Panasonic Parts department is out of stock.
Finally I gave up and made one myself from a piece of wood. Used the real battery for exact replica.

Bought 2 AA battery holders from Radioshack and can now power my GH2 from 6 alkaline batteries or 7 NiMH ones. And of course I can use a regulated 9V AC adapter as well.

Good luck.

The only place I could find it in stock is on Ebay. They jacked up the prices so you'll be paying 3x as much.

I also ordered from Panasonic Parts, and haven't received it yet. They did send the AC adapter, but that's useless without the DC coupler.

I'm not going to buy the Panasonic AC adapter, I'll just get a $20 adapter from Fry's. But i do need this coupler.

Are you serious? And if so can you post pics. Thanks.

Here is quick snapshot.

You need to make an exact size replica of the battery. Watch the corner nich.
I drilled two holes for the wires. At first from the bottom. Then drilled a hole on the side and pulled them out from there.

If you need more details just let me know.

Good luck.

Tyampel I think it's cool that you came up with that solution. Props to you but O think it's shameful that the supply is so low for these things that people have to resort to making them out of wood. This should have been a supplied accessory anyway. But yeah good job.

I would suggest an 8.4V camcorder adapter instead. This way you will know that its output is properly filtered, so you won't get the background humming noise.
I just happen to have an extra Sony adapter for the TRV730. But I found them on eBay too.

Of course you will need to cut off the plug and replace it with a more suitable one. Strangely enough the stripe-colored wire is the negative one.

Good luck.

That Adorama link looks that same as it did when I ordered from them and it was out of stock. I don't see where it says in stock on that page.

Adorama usually has red text saying they are out of stock. If it doesn't have that- SUPPOSEDLY it is in stock.
But yeah, I'd call them to verify before ordering.

So I bought a Rhino $20 universal adapter with tip that works with the coupler and set it to 8.4 volts. My result is I keep getting a This battery does not work with this camera prompt and it cuts off. I'm not a happy camper because I've seen this setup in the vimeo video that shows how to use an R/C car battery and the person who posted it said it worked for him. Is there something that has to be switched in a menu somewhere? Not sure what to do.

If there is a 9v setting try that one. Some of the adapters don't really stabilize the output, so it may become less under the load.

Good luck.

Sorry to hear that, Ram. Maybe you can take it back to Fry's and get your money back? The $25 VCT VM-1898 - Universal AC/DC Adapter for Digital Cameras from Amazon works perfectly with my DCC8.
