My camera needs cleaning, but I haven't had good luck with professional cleanings. I sent a sony camcorder to a local authorized place a few years back, and it didn't work. Just a month ago, I sent a XL1 directly to the Canon service center and it worked for 2 shoots, and is now dropping frames again. It's going back to Canon today.
My DVX100B only has about 10 hours, and I made the mistake of shooting my first wedding with sony tapes (and had no problem), and then switched to pany PQ's for the wedding I shot this weekend.
Dropped frames, red X, mosaics, etc... as to be expected. So, do I send it in (and to whom?) or can I do it myself and get the same results using Barry's instructions?
What's the best course of action?
