This is my DIY 1,2m long slider project, I was working on this for last 3 weeks , still some work needs to be done on controller, looks very raw now, but its only beta version .
I`m happy with results minimum speed 1m per 110 hours, max speed with fluent move approx 4-5 sek per meter .
Dolly was made from CNC tools parts , 7Ah 12v battery for 10-14 hours or Car Cigarette Lighter or 220v.
I`m working on controller with small LCD screen , a joystick and few buttons

, to set speed or time (mostly for timelaps) , and battery status.

Great job Yamp. Could you explain what the basic parts are that would be needed to make a similar setup? Thanks.

I received a lot mails and pm`s with buying offer ,so I thing I’ll produce this motor slider, final version for testing will be ready in 2-3 weeks, I`m planning 4 different lengths 1 , 1.5, 2 ,2.5 meter (3.3 , 4.9 , 6.5,8.2 feet) , max speed approx 2-2,5 sec per 1 m , minimum speed 100 hours per meter , controller with lcd and joystick , and shutter control from this controller , so you don’t have to buy intervalometer for your camera , will have some more news next week

Add the ability to program in repeatable head movements (i.e, pan / tilt) and LANC functions (focus, iris, zoom) and a plot of speed vs. time, that can accurately repeat, and you have every aspiring James Cameron's new best friend. Bring that to market for under $2500.00 USD and I'm sure you'll sell dozens within a year. And you'd be the king of low budget MoCo :-D

Question: at top speed, what is currently the longest lens you can shoot with and get a stable image?

will have to thing about this :D for now prototype have ability to program and repeat 1 move up to 15 sec , you can set speed , or time and repeat this will have to think about LANC functions , but for this you have to have external monitor , who knows maybe in future :D, for now I`ll try to bring this to market for approx 900E (1100 $) +- 5% :D

Just let us plug it into our laptops via USB and set everything that way.

Remote pan/tilt is more important than LANC forn ow. You could probably take this and adapt it to my specs:

Add all this stuff, and this thing could be the new indie-film MILO.

Has anybody else built anything like this? Or is vamp still on the board?

I'm really interested in building something like this, but I have absolutely 0 know-how about motors, controllers, drivers, boards, switches, etc...

A little more information about the materials (what you need, where you can get it) and how everything works (step-by-step how to) would be fantastic!

Can anybody help shed some light?

Hi Guys!
