Hey guys just wanted to share a couple videos I made. I came up with my own camera slider design and would like to share it. The first video is the actual DIY itself and the second is of test shots with a noise test at the end. Let me know what you think. The first video is a bit long but I try to include as much info as I can that you might need. Oh yeah, in case you were wondering, this design uses no felt for sliding what so ever, so if you want to see what I used give it a watch ;).

PVC generates massive amounts of static electricity. Be careful with electronics around it.

Hi there thanks for the concern but I'm guessing you didn't watch the video. I no way does the PVC rub against other PVC or any fabric material rub against PVC. This design will not generate any static. Now one design that might generate static is the popular $20 Indiemogul diy slider, which runs felt along PVC. I would watch the videos then come back and comment ;).

I both watched the video and looked at the blown up picture. Can you not clearly see that he has a larger diameter pvc tube sliding across a smaller diameter one?

Thanks for proving my point. The mount is not sliding across on PVC tubes, its a coated thin metal. On top of that the PVC does not even touch the metal. I'm curious behind the motives of your false accusations? I know the DIY video is long, but you do need to watch it all to understand what I used and why it works. Thanks.

It is unbelievably clear that plastic is rubbing on pvc. http://youtu.be/zHUHFSpdbSA?t=5m29s

Static electricity is a field. Handling electronics nearby to the charged pvc pipes could be dangerous. Did it occur to you that there might be a design flaw that should be tested before you challenge your critics?

That carriage slides on the hollow metal tubes from the brooms bought at the dollar store. The brooms are not made of pvc.

Just an update, I removed the mystery pex from the inside of the sliding platform. It works great without it! Also, something i tried is I applied "Armor All" original to the broom sticks and buffed it in really well. It now slides like it was on bearings. A simple 10 degree tilt at one end and it easily slides to the other. If I didn't know any better I would say its even quieter as well, very silent.

Let me just jump in here to say that I think this looks great! I especially like the portability aspect of it. Nice work!
