Just a note to Aussies re some local pricing i've received straight from Igus's distributor here,

(or appx $340us) plus postage

A Glidetrack HD shipped to Aust. will cost $625au,

A 36" Indislider Pro shipped will cost $525us ($593au) although i think its not calculating the shipping correctly and im sure will be a lot more.

A Kessler PocketDolly Basic will cost $399us ($450au) plus shipping costs ($???)

Hi everyone,

Can somebody suggest an inexpensive tripod head to use with the ZaZaSlider ?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Dave.

Hey folks...As this thread is getting REALLY long, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE read the FIRST POST in it's entirety...I try to keep it up to date with good information.

That being said...from the bottom of the first post, a user suggested this....

Another good choice for a cheap head:
Velbon PH-368 Vel-Flo 9 Mini-Pro 2-Way Panhead (Quick Release)

Thanks!

Any thoughts on 100mm vs 150mm carriages? some people claim the longer carriage is smoother but im wondering if this is just a case of removing/reinstalling the bearings? Thoughts anyone
j

what system are you talking about ?

I'm assuming it's not the one that is talked about mostly through this thread, because there are no ball bearings in the ZaZa rail system, with that said, are you talking
about an alternative rail system that somebody has brought up a few times ?

It's really important to keep facts clear for each system, for anyone just coming across this thread, we don't want them purchasing the wrong rail or thinking there are ball bearings in a system
when there are none.

I have a ws-10-40 (the smaller rail and carriage) for sale. It is already drilled and threaded perfectly and ready to mount! I am selling to get the 16-60. It works great with my 7D super smooth, I just want the larger one. $110 shipped. anywhere in the continental US.

I just said the part number "WS-16-60 Drylin 'W' rail 1000mm"
I'm not quite sure which one that is to be honest. I was just going with Za's recommendation.

But let me know what you find out.
Thanks, Rhett

"WS-16-60" is WITH holes.

"WS-16-60S" is WITHOUT holes. (solid rail, no pre-drilled holes)

Just so everyone knows, the 16-60 (Holes) is backordered for 4-6 weeks. BUT the 16-60S (No Holes) IS in stock. The carriage is not in at the moment but should be in this Friday.

Also, Thanks Zaza for the help and clarification.

Cheers, Rhett

Yes the drylin system, my bad yes I understand theres no actual bearings but assembly/dis assembly may change the 'feel' as per igus's adjustment instructions.

main point is ive read posts where people suggest theres a stability difference between the WW16-60-10 and WW-16-60-15 (or 100mm and 150mm long carriages) anyone care to comment?
thx

Here's my 0.5 meter slider. Yesterday we drilled and tapped the holes and put it all together. I'm using a Manfrotto 488RC0 head with a 75mm bowl leveler on the tripod.

I already owned a 1 meter SD Glidetrack made of the lighter weight carriage. We took the end pieces from it and used it with the parts I ordered from Igus.

My goal was to create something both more portable and more stable. I think this will fit the bill. It supports the weight of my EX1 nicely.

I've never had a problem with the 100mm carriage. That's all I use! :Drogar-Happy(DBG):

Hi there!
I've been reading through the whole thread and finally built my own version of the famous zazaslider with a lengt of 1200mm.

Just 2 days after the rails arrived I got a call from the igus customer service asking me if I'm satisfied with the rails and if someone should stop by and tell me how it works :-) She asked me what I'm going to do with the rail and told me she had several calls from filmmakers before :-) So ZaZaSlider finally arrived in Germany

This is what I came up with:
