I mean how stable is it when you pan, tilt, and dolly the camera around at the far ends? Does the rail wobble at all, or is it rock solid?
Zaza,
Any thoughts on the MVB 525 Tripod? Here's the link. I'm still having trouble.
Here's a link to it:

What's the total cost in parts and shipping for the ZaZa slider?
Just ordered the slider from DV City, will report back once it arrives and give it a full review. I have no tools, and every DIY thing I make has flaws due to my lack of patience when it comes to handyman stuff, ha. With shipping it cost me 264.50 USD.
I did too. With the 150mm you can get a lock. The lock works great, although it adds friction to the slide.
It's a little noisy, and creates a whistle. Not too loud, but noticeable.
I'm using it with an hmc150, with the slider sandwiched between two 701rc heads by Bogen. It sags when you get to the end. The problem is the plate is just too small. That's a huge disappointment as I have three of these heads and do not have time to swap plates.
I actually have one, but the legs are not the problem -- it's the shaky heads. I've tried all three with the same result. I may stick with a one head solution.
So do you just helicopter the slide onto the tripod when you arrive on scene?
BTW, I use a Bogen 438 Compact Levelling Head - Ball Camera Leveler between the carriage and the head. It's not the problem, but I had to put it on because otherwise I loose functionality in the head. Even so I had to put a large washer between the 438 and the carriage to be able to use the 438. What are other people using for that 'lift'?
