After deciding to buy lenses instead of a CPM cage fly kit, I knew that I will still be skewed. Get it? Skewed? :undecided.
Anywho, so I went to Home Depot, looked at all sorts of things as I was designing it on the spot with the simple IKAN Basic Fly Kit($246) in mind. Here's what I came up with after $18.72.
DIY Basic Fly Kit
With the JOBY ballhead($50) and the Odyssey Aaron Ross grips($12), this was still a project under $100 made with lightweight parts. It can take up to a 30-40 pound load which I will utilize by adding a release plate on the bottom for a tripod, once I get a tripod. It weighs in at 4.5 pounds with the camera mounted. Time to take it out and shoot with it!
