DIY Glidecam

This is a DIY glidecam type device, I made it a year or two ago and my rig has now out grown it. It has a bogen quick release on the top, it is based on a bogen monopod. The bearing rotates freely when you use the handle. You can also just hold the monopod and get crazy dutch angles but this will negate the floating action.. two of the sections extend if you need to adjust the balance or rest it on the floor and shoot like it was a standard monopod. If you are local Madison WI, you can come check it out or I'll be back in Chicago after Thanksgiving. I dont think I will ship it with the two black metal counter weights, just because the shipping will be more than buying them local, they are 2.5lbs each and I think were between $3-5 at a sporting goods store. Depending on your camera you may not even need them. Any questions ask, I'd estimate shipping to be $15-20. Best offer or trade takes it!

the bearing looks a bit dusty in this pic, but it works as new, and has a small hole for oil on the other side, which I havent needed to use since I bought it, it's silly smoooth... you could also paint the bearing black if you were so inclined, but I never felt like it...

hey sink,

i'm very interested. do you have any footage shot using the rig? I want to use it with a Canon XH A1, do you think that would be too heavy? I think it runs about 6 pounds, maybe 7 with my Go35Pro and Nikon prime on it.

well that depends on what you think is too heavy, is it 6-7 pounds total? thats not bad, but the more weight you have on top the more you need on the bottom so go find a 15Lb weight and walk around with it in front of you in one hand. You cant do it all day(at least I cant) but you can do it in short spurts. This is what you will find with all handheld stabilizers like this, unless you go for the articulating arm the weight is on you.. I'll look for some footage..
