DIY Dolly footage

Hey everyone,

I had spent some time over in the DIY section and finally made my own dolly. This is the sample footage I was able to come up with.

NOTE: I had never operated a dolly before this. Add to that I have an incredibly cheap (<$30) tripod that is pure plastic and wobbly as hell. As such any shake in the footage is either me bumping the dolly or the tripod wobbling. The dolly itself is rock solid.

No CC, but I like some of the shots.

Here ya go
fenris.berry.edu/~aupchurch/Movies/Dolly.wmv (13mb).

FIXED: Changed audio level so the music isn't so loud.
UPDATED: Added QT7 version.

Do you mean too loud?

If so, I truly apologize. I'll up a new one with lower volume. Sorry about that.

Thanks for the compliment.

Looks pretty good. There were only a couple minor bumps but like you said you don't have the best tripod.
I liked the pool table one.

I gotta get my lazy ass to make a dolly.

Took me 2 days and roughly $70.

It does help that my father is in the tool industry, so I had drills and such that could get the job done.

It's totally worth it!

Great stuff. I personally liked the shot going under the archway and the second pool shot. I will have to make my dolly soon for my summer production. Hopefully it comes out like this :).

Only seventy dollars to build it?

I think I just need to do more research and build my own. Sheesh

I'm going to go ahead and do that. I should've done it forever ago,, when I had time... but now I'm just going to go for it.

I'm thinking maybe one that will also ride a passenger maybe. Not sure.

churchie,
are you using the pvc pipe rail setup for yours or is this a rolls on the floor type?
Mine runs on two pvc rails and stays really smooth.

1in. PVC Rail pipe.

THe great thing about the angled wheels is that they keep the track in place. So far i've only been using one section of 10ft PVC. If i were to go longer, i may want to gafter the pipes in place. But so far so good.
