DIY Cinesaddle/Beanbag

Dark Side of the Camera
While always looking for a better (and cheaper) mousetrap, this ad of a local discounter caught my eye.

The local discounter had a waterproof "Outoor Trend Pillow"(wtf?) - heavy ballistic nylon, filled with styrofoam beads for 12 bucks.

My DIY-brain started working. :)

Did not want a pink or poison green bean bag so I got me the least gayish - light blue.

Then I made the pattern and talked my girlfriend into sewing the whole shabang.
I duck and covered while she was cursing doing the work, but - as always - she got it done great.

Et voila: 12 bucks Cinesaddle derivat - plus some more for the straps.

Looking good, Frank!

But I have to disappoint you: that babyblue color looks pretty gay too...
And along with that phallic HVX inside that booty-like cradle, well...
I mean not saying you´re supressing sth there, but...
Well, you mentioned it first...:)

Anyway, nice DIY project!

Wait till I get the HVX extended with rails and LEX and all.

...I wish it would also come in black thou.

I`m shooting an image film for the Red Cross this afternoon.
Let´s see how it holds up.

I've done something similar....but a little more low-core.

I went to the local outlet store, picked up a bean bag chair, emptied out a large amount of styro beans and tied off some excess material(no sowing here). the end result is a $15 10minute cine saddle.

Very cool! Do you find the foam beads to be too wiggly? We use a corn burner for our heat during the winter, I had thought about doing the same thing, but using corn instead of foam beads. They stay put once you set them down. The foam beads always seemed to shift a little when you set them down. I use a couple socks filled with corn and it works well as a base to set just about anything on. If you use a flame retardant material, you can use it to set a light in for VERY short spurts. (10% ort 12% dried field corn will not pop, I just thought i would put an end to that before the jokes start flying)

Albeit, the corn will add a lot of weight....good for smaller uses or a small 3 inch base sewed in, but separated, at the bottom, kinda like an inverted pillow topper.

Not to mention, you can put the corn filled socks in the micro-wave and use them as a heating pad at the end of the day..... At least for us old farts.

Nice Design!! Thanks for posting this
