DIY boompoles- painter's pole adapter

Cheaper Still

Cheaper Still

If you have a pole with a cast aluminum tip you can drill it, tap it, and screw in a stud add some loctite and you're ready to go. If you have the tools the only cost is the stud which is about 50 cents.

I already had two with the plastic end piece, but that thought still crossed my mind. If it were a solid plastic plug, I might have gone that route.

Somewhere I had read that it was a fairly common adapter, but it really isn't. I was not about to spend hours and days going thru every hardware store either. I figured with the cost of time and gas, I'm coming out cheaper with the ebay thing.

I just got it in the afternoon mail. It screwed into the shock mount nice and smooth, and the same with the painter's pole. No gluing, grinding, drilling or taping- it just went on the way it should. I'm not sure if this guy is turning and threading them himself, but somebody did a great job. Well worth the $15 to not have to go through every hardware aisle and juryrig it!

I use this

Go to a sporting goods store. In the golf section they have golf ball retrievers. It's an extendable pole perfect for a mic boom. This is what I use.
