Great job!!!

Great job!!!

Wow, really gives that work light some class

Will you be posting any kind of materials list/tutorials (hopefully)?

Very Professional my friend. Did you have the use of a metal workshop?
Have made lamps from a very similar one to you , obtained from DIY store.
I don't know what Paint you used, but I use one that is good up to 450 Degrees
Centigrade!!!
Well Done!!

Thanks! I built these in my garage, so no metal workshops :D The paint I used was good up to 400 degrees and it's designed for painting grills, exhaust pipes and stuff like that. The metal I used was 0,7mm galvanized sheet metal and it cost only 7$ for four sets of barndoors. First I made a cardboard test piece, then I just drew it onto the metal and cut it with basic jigsaw. I used a file to make the sharp edges of metal feel smoother. You really can see the construction from the photos I posted, if not I can always post few close up's if you want.

Let me guess, those lights are from Home Depot/Lowes as well. Looks very similar to their worklights.
No Home Depot here in Finland, but I think that they still are the same. I bought those work lights from a local hardware store and they cost 17$ each with a stand. I'll try to post few close ups soon.

JasonFox: for the hinges I just cut little pieces of sheet metal and screwed them with two bolts each through the doors to the frame.

And that's giving you enough resistance to position the doors? Cool. Even I can make those. I've converted one of my worklights to use a CFL, and barndoors are seriously needed on it. Thanks for the tip.

Yeah, I was very surprised how good grip those little pieces offer, they are VERY stif. You just have to drill the holes close enough to the frame to ensure good grip. Also if those things get too loose in use, it's not a big deal to change them.

My two left hands really would appreciate a step by step how-to...
Maybe some CUs of the hinges would help me enough...
Anyhow this looks sweet!

Yeah very good job man, just purchased an used Arrilight because it was just a little more then a new set of barndoors for my current light... You would definitely have a market for these bad boys.
