diy 4 Bank and Diva challenge response!

Look at the amphenol connectors that KINO FLO uses... all you have to do is count the holes and look at the configuration. You need 2 holes/pins for each separately switchable bulb... and the ballast uses 3 wires from the wall... and 2 wires EACH to each bulb... so do the math.

Okay I have a question on the two pins per bulb thing. Don't you have to have 4 wires per bulb? If you run two pins do you just split each one at the connector to the bulb or will they operate with just 1 wire running to each end/side?

Totally depends upon which ballast you use. If you use the Fulham as some on this thread have done, then yes its about 2 wires per tube with some jumpers locally at the socket. Other ballasts may require 3 and some even 4 wires. You need to check the wiring diagram for the ballast you buy to be sure.

That makes sense. So with a ballast that requires 3 or 4 wires, could you combine them after the ballast into two for the cable then split them after the cable, before the socket?

No, that wouldn't work. If they have 3 or 4 wires going to a socket, they really need that so if its important to you to have less wires on the cable, choose a "two wire" ballast like the Fulham.

Hey Mattin STL
I found the ballast I was looking for. I allready bought some Studioline tubes.(Men that was expensive...) I kept trying to PM you but you had a full box. I want to buy 2g11 sockets and supports. How can I do that in order you to be fine with payment methods?

Does anyone know if the fulham workhorse 5 needs all four red wires?

I have a fixture in the process, a 4x55, that works just fine with two red wires and yellow wire per ballast per set of two tubes. Thanks.

I'm interested in how those of you that have built these have handled enclosing the ballasts, I've got a couple of ideas I'm going to try but was curious as to what works / doesn't (I'm trying for some aesthetic value as well) -

thanks,

cheno
