Re: Dissapointed with Panasonic

Jarred: You altered his membership because he insulted you? Are you a Nazi? (no offence intended because I derive lots of important information from many of the graceful members of this site, and would hate to lose my membership)

A simple recommendation I have for many people who regard this thread as "whining" is consider the need to be business minded in order to succeed at any business endeavor, artistic or not.

Sticking with loyalty and overlooking being economically taken advantage of is not something that will lead to success in the long run. I have my viewpoint that has not been successfully rebutted, and I do think it would be in many of your best interests to be a little more open minded about relevent matters like this.

That being said I am certain I will remain content shooting with my DVX100 based on the way things have worked out.

Re: Dissapointed with Panasonic

He was being a dumbass all around not only to me. If you look around You will see I am much less of a Nazi than any other board out there, and am a believer in Freedom of Speech... but if you insult me in my backyard I dont see why I can't have a little power trip once in awhile

hehhehhe hehh. waah waah waah waah.

And dont worry Decius, your membership isn't going anywhere, I will just delete all your posts :)
just kidding.

Re: Dissapointed with Panasonic

Nothing Nazi about it. If you come in here and act like an ass for no apparent reason you deserve to be 86'd. Nothing wrong with spirited debates but that guy obviously has no cooth.

The funniest part is, this thread continues to live in infany.

Re: Dissapointed with Panasonic

Yeah I think people come and start reading 5 pages then by the end they are so screwed up reading all that crap they feel like passing the torch.

Re: Dissapointed with Panasonic

I think it's amazing that this thread still continues. Obviously a lot of people had some strong opinions about this subject. I can think of many sites where eniter threads were taken out because it did not go along with the opinion of the site founder. To call the site "president/founder" a douchebag (even in ignorance) is 1: really funny givin the circumstances, and 2: perfect reason for having you membership denied or altered. If you worked for microsoft and called Bill Gates a douchebag to his face, I think he'd do a lot worse than cann your butt.

Re: Dissapointed with Panasonic

ha ha.. someone else try it and see what happens.

Re: Dissapointed with Panasonic

Speaking of Nazi's...

Check out the thread over at the other place regarding Vegas and "Post Closed".

Re: Dissapointed with Panasonic

I think I remember reading at least parts of this thread awhile back.  I was going to post, but had to leave and forgot about it.

Anyway, if this *IS* the thread good, if not I suppose it doesn't hurt to post here as we seem to have some debate going on over a manufacturer who upgrades and existing product/product line without prior approval or notification to its customer base.

As a manufacturer, we are always trying to improve our product.  We neither schedule these nor delay improvements base on a products age, sales or for that matter anything other then existing stock -- And major improvements/changes have forced us more then once to switch something in the middle of a production run.

This is manufacturing.  It is the same worldwide.  To somehow think that a manufacturer has some ethical position to withhold or slowdown modifications to a product is ludicrous.

I would suggest for those who somehow think this is not acceptable maybe need to start making there own products for themselves and let us who manufacture for others do our jobs the best we know how.

Re: Dissapointed with Panasonic

If you have talent it doesn't matter if you use a Fisher Price PXL-2000, it is not the camera holding you back it is the time spent complaining about the what ifs...the truth is people are doing great stuff with the DVX100, and lack of an update is not stoping them...

Re: Dissapointed with Panasonic

ooooh boy, and I thought I'd seen and been in hot debates. Whoah. I like my 100 just fine. It looks sooo good. I waited for it for years, and I don't look back. It saved my ass so many times, and I love the way people move onscreen in 24p. I never use gain, and if I do, I can switch to 60i. BFD. This camera's lens is genuinely one of the best lenses I have ever used, and I have been shooting with ENG cam's for over 10 years. yes the 100A has improvements. I guess I'll upgrade someday. maybe. I am so happy now.

Re: Dissapointed with Panasonic

Decius,
The proofs in the pudding. I'd wager that if you screened a video shot by both cameras, side by side, with similar setting that you could not see a difference. In other words, it sounds like your sweating the specs, when you should just go out and shoot and create beautiful images. :)

Re: Dissapointed with Panasonic

I'm a DVX100 owner, and my gripe is that the heads have become dirty to the point of the camera being unusable, in less than a year. That's my gripe. Of course, after cleaning, I'll be a MQ tape user 100% of the time.

I felt lousy about the 100A at first, but now I think differently. Updates are inevitable. Hats off to Panasonic - they should keep improving the camera; they have a good thing going. This is part - part of the reason Scott Billups tells people to rent cameras. They will devaluate, and the XL2, if it really is 24fps native 16x9, is gonna make people more upset. THe fact is the dvx100 is a great camera, and I agree with the earlier posts: ya shouldn't be doing autofocusing anyway, the mic oughta be off the camera (learned the hard way) ...
