displaying hd video...

Looking to show some video at a wedding expo on a hd lcd tv, which has both hdmi and component inputs. What is the best way to do this? I will have both hd footage from our hvx as well as sd footage from our dvx. Let's say I only have sd footage, which is all I have available to me for this first expo. Is it a better idea to use instant hd, make a 720p movie, and then hook a laptop up to the tv to play it? Or should I leave it at SD resolution, put it on an SD DVD, and then play it on an upconverting DVD player?

thanks for any help!

Well the good thing with DVD is that it's a simple and effective system that is proven to work.
Unless HD is required, then go with DVD untill you have a tried and true HD system available.

thanks mikko, we are going to offer an all high definition wedding, but we don't have any candidates for that package yet, seeing as we priced it pretty high. We're probably shooting a friends wedding next spring/summer, so I may use it for doing a sample hd wedding.

Lets say I have all hd footage...then what do you suggest is the best route to display it?

What makes me sad is, i just got my HVX, shot a bunchafootage, and watched 720P on my Laptops 1440X900 monitor it thinking Wow this looks goood. then i watched "Chocolat" a SD dvd full screen and it kinda looked the same...... :/ Point being, Really good DVD's in 480P look REAlly Really Good. So dont worry too much. most people cant tell the difference.

The amazing part is that if your footage looks great in SD, and you show it on a widescreen (lcd, plasma, whatever) from a well-compressed DVD, 9 out of 10 normal people (non techies/filmmakers) will never know the difference.
