Display goes blank?

I tried out my GH1 today for the first time after hacking it. Everything looked great. I am concerned however. The 3 inch screen that I was looking at while filming went to a blank black screen on several occassions. I played back and the footage was there but it still is concerning. Has anyone had this problem? Is there something that can be done to correct this?

it has a sensor to switch from lcd to evf if you put your face on the eyecup. if something gets close enough like say your hand brushing past it will switch. if you dont like this feature you can turn auto lcd/evf off in options.

Blutarski has it right. See: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=204761 for more first time setup details.

:D I thought my camera was broke at the first wedding I shot with it...a "feature" I unfortunately learned about during the formal dances. I kept re-booting the camera, reseating the lens, etc. :D

God forbid we actually read the manual that comes with our gear.

Now I disable the auto EVF/LCD sensor when shooting video, since I rarely use the EVF. I turn it back on for taking pictures, since I rarely use the LCD for taking handheld pictures. It's easy to simply use the EVF/LCD button on the camera.

Thanks for replies. I'm sure there is going to be a learning curve with this. Great to know it was something simple to fix.
