I am not Jeff Altman. I had nothing to do with the video. It's a short presentation that i am so impressed by because of it's sheer existance, and Jeff Altman put this together and posted it on Vimeo. I love this kind of stuff, but it gave me an overwhelming feeling about how short life really is for some reason. 53 years and the (color!) footage looks amazing.

Fantastic! Thanks for posting. It shook the dust off of my memories. The selection of music and how it changed from innocent to a bit dark with minor chords added a whole extra level, almost suggesting our ignorance in a time of innocence - not knowing what the world had in store for us all.

Yeah, it definitely had an odd but cool vibe that I really dug. It did veer into creepy a bit. Not horror movie creepy, but something more nebulous and profound, if that makes any sense.

Seems like this guy did a good remastering/clean up job on the footage.

yeah, i agree with you all...those are the types of responses i was hoping for. this guy found this footage (and apparantly there is hours more of footage his grandpa shot) and he managed to clean it up so well. if i found that stuff in MY closet, i would go thru any length to make it look that good.

the music is really what made it for me. i am particularly nostalgic about times i was not alive for, and this one his the spot. The music provided such an innocent vibe, and the dark vibe only added to the cluelessness of a country during peacetime. And my cluelessness, i mean Innocence. and the irony of the dark vibe of the song just satisfied my assumption of the world before i was born.

I've seen many documentaries over the years that cover the opening of Disneyland, but never have i seen it from a visitor's point of view quite so nicely...especially a visitor that was not only there to enjoy the park with his wife, but had his camera, tripod, oh, and Walt Disney to be a part of his day.
