Disc Importing

Hi everyone,

I was given a disk that had a 3 hour medical procedure on it. I put the disk in my computer in began editing, but i never saved the footage from my the disk onto my computer i guess, because when i go to save it final cut says "file error: unknown file." that happens when i try to export to .mov or save the project. i have since saved the contents of the CD onto my computer but final cut still recognizes the unsaved ones from the disk as the master clips. i just need to be able to maintain this editied clip on the timeline and export that.

I'd love to help, but your post is confusing.

You are editing a 3 hour procedure that was give to you on a CD?

What codec was it, what frame rate, what grid size? What sequence settings in FCP?

What version of FCP?

Did you copy the contents of the CD to your dedicated HDD first?

Right click on the clips in your timeline and select "Reconnect Media", press "Locate" in the window that appears and locate the files that you copied over to your hard drive. This will reconnection your media.
