Hi Guy's ,

I finally finished this video : here it is

Let me know what you think & also any pointers on how to get a bigger screen without the horrible interlacing & blockiness I keep getting when trying out bigger screen sizes.

I Have to go with mpeg 4 using QT conversion - this seems to be the best looking screen I can get even better than compressor.

I've actually seen your work before. A friend of mine showed me some stuff a while back that I thought was quite interesting.

1) Everytime I get out of an elevator, I'm gonna try hovering like that.
2) Love that "Bruckheimer" look. What filter(s) did you use?
3) Where can I get one of those nifty :) shirts?

I just used fcp's filters & some AE.
The top was from a boot sale - but Im sure gap will be stocking them very soon.... .. after they see the video anyway;D

The "Bruckhiemer look" ?? explain please :)

As in Jerry Bruckheimer and how many of his films have the same look. It's just the way the top part of the screen is tinted to make it look like it's a sunset. Take a look at Bad Boys, The Rock, Con Air, etc. I know Magic Bullet has a plug in that does it but was wondering if any other filter package does as well.

Keep those vidz coming. I want more ;D

Ok the bruckheimer look - I get you now 8)

Any ideas on how to get a clear bigger screen version ?

I played the file in full screen mode in QT - is there no way of clicking a link so that the QT mpeg 4 version can play at full screen automaticaly without saving the file & then opening it in QT ?

silence speaks volumes :'( .. .i guess.

c'mon guy's - collegues even - lets get some feedback - exchange banter - chat crap about filters / bad camera work - whatever.

:-X i'll shutup now - im on the no sleep train trying learn how to encode this vid on dvd nice & clear - its driving me nutz - haven't used dvdsp before ???

I really, really liked the editing. I know those syncs with some of the music had to have taken a while (or they at least look like a lot of effort which ultimately the perception of the viewer is what counts right ;D).

I watched both twice, very cool.

For what its worth, I watched it. I agree with the editting, it seems like you worked hard on it. The split screens and happy face freeze frame "burns" were cool, I've never seen that before.

Since that was all I had to say, and knew it would be ignored, I didn't think my opinion mattered...

But if it does, Good Job. I gotta hand it to you for the many hours spent on the computer...I could only imagine!

Those hours turned into weeks at times - this was a huge learning curve for me - my first ever MV alone.

Wow. You've heard the expression "a laugh a minute"? Well this video was "a special effect every two seconds." I can't imagine how long this took. Musically, it's not my style, so I'm not the best person to ask. But in terms of editing, I commend you for an excellent job. Some of the effects were really clever, like the floating. Are you keeping that a secret, or would it be okay for me to offer my opinion on how you did it?

On a more sober note :o - a 'Q'.
Have you ever had your mini DV converted to beta for broadcast ?
Im wondering how much quality I'll lose - mtv want a beta of this video & Im a rookie in the whole beta environment.

Hi Filmelife,

Thanks - the editing was on in fcp & color filters in AE - the smiley was just manipulated using ae filters using saturation color plugs + some saphire plugs - all standard stuff - nothing fancy going on here.
The content on the other hand was special - I got some extraordinary shots off those guy's doing alot of freaked out things.
I will save some of it for Vol:2 so - watch this space!

I liked the way the video's style matched the general 'feel' of the music: unapologetic, full of energy, and a little in-your-face. I'm also all for the (ab)use of color correction filters. :)

Personally, I could have done without the titling, though. I didn't think it was as tasteful as the rest of the video, and definitely didn't need to appear every time the sampled voice said, "Dirty Raver."

Otherwise, good stuff!

just put it on a BetaSP deck via component output cables. if you havent got them then burn them a DVD in topquality. they will be fine i guess.

I liked this a lot. Have to also give you credit for the insane amount of time spent at the computer working this thing out. Would love to hear about some of your work flow on it. I wish I knew a tenth of what you seem to know about post work. Can you clue some of us in?
