Dirty Lens?

Just purchased a century optics .6 wide angle lens used from BH photo. When I look close under strong light I see small specs that don't seem to go away. I cleaned it really well, and they are still there. Will these produce problems with shooting. I know with this lens I need to keep my zoom almost at macro which means keeping a clean lens is essential. Any thoughts? Thanks!

I have marks like that on some of my photography lenses that never show up. The only way to know is shoot with it in various conditions and look extremely closely at the image. Also bring the focus in all the way to see if it shows the specs.

I strongly suspect that you will never see these specs, but if you want to check it, this is what I would try:

- Shoot a bright white wall so that it completely fills the frame
- Use a high F-stop ( 8.0 or more, this will show anything that might be visible )
- Focus on something close, as you would when you normally shoot

Check the video afterwards to see if anything is visible. My guess is that you won't see anything.

thanks so much. i have examined this lens for a while now. i do see some spots at times (depending on the light). I can get the same exact lens brand new for another $100. So I may just return it and get the new one.
