dirty heads - is the bag the reason?

hello
We have problem with our dvx.
Its new (15 hours on the counter) and anfortunately red point - dirty heads - displayed.
one tape was recorded with "flying pixels" - we thought there is tape problem (as its new comcorder),
but another tape (we are using MQ tapes) didnt change it - red point is displayed again.
So now we are preparing to clean heads as its described by Barry S on dvxuser.com.

and finaly main question:

We are using LowePro bag for the comcorder, the one with the "hairy" inside.
Do you think that the bag might be the reason - small hair stick to the head - thats why red point appeared,
and "flying pixels" on the film while played back?
Or its just imagination and the heads are just dirty, there is nothing wrong with the bag?

thanks

Hi balbina

I recently got the DVX as well. Within the first day of using it, I would notice flying pixels every once in a while. Same thing with different MQ tapes. They usually occur at the very start of a clip...though, I'm not sure why its doing it, but it worries me. For the most part, the DVX performs well but if there was something wrong with my camera, I hope it acts up soon and frequent enough to have it serviced within my warranty

Yeah I have had the same problem. I've just assumed it was from installing that darn SP2 but maybe it is something about the camera itself... anyone have any information on this?

hello,
I've asked Product Specialist at Lowepro (as the bag is LowePro), and here is the answer:

"Dear Jan,
Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. I'll pass on the comment to our design team.

Based on the feedback and review of thousands of users this potential issue has only been mentioned one other time in the five years I've been product specialist.

The versatility of the Velcro connection on our partition design appears to be a more valuable asset to our users than the potential dust problem. In most cases the dividers are positioned once; when you first set up the bag for your individual gear. After that changes are few and far between.
I'd suggest possibly vacuuming out the interior once you've set it up the way you prefer. With the dividers in place in a long-term manner I don't expect the small fibers will be an issue."
