Dirty Cylinder Head... Normal?

Hey there! I've got a DVX100a at the end of may. I've used it only a few times to do some home-movies and everything has gone fine until today... For some reason a red circle with a X appeared on top of the screen... I checked the manual and it says that that symbol means that the Cylinder Head is dirty... I'm kind of scared because the camera is hardly a month old and because, honestly... I don't know much about video cameras... So I will like to know if that is a normal problem?, if it is easy to fix and if the warranty will cover the reparation of the camera... Thanks for your answers.

Old or used tape can dirty the head in one setting. Wind born particles, dust in storage, or pollution can dirty a head without ever turning on the camera.

You may be able to get it cleaned under warranty, as it may have happened at the store (if it was handled), but it is nothing to worry about, assuming you get the thing cleaned.

I know how you feel, I actually was getting online to ask similar question...I have only had mine for 2 months and shot less than 20 hours worth of tape, warning came up 'cylinder lock' for me...now it's not playing back tapes.
I guess I'll try a head cleaning tape...but they seem kinda gimmicky to me.
Is that what the cylinder lock warning means?
